By fusing a collection of local and international shoe and clothing lines for a hip clientele, Grey One is well worth the quick trip up the freeways.

The trendsetters at Pasadena's Blitz opened this store to tailor to customers with more selective (read: pricier) taste in sportswear. Located in Old Town Pasadena—look for the distinguishable logo, a shield crossed by a lightning-tipped sword, posted outside—the store resembles a prison cell, if prisons had super-deluxe penitentiary suites. A grid of 80 cinder-block cells respectively hold limited editions of brands like Adidas, Vans and Pumas. The rest of the store consists of apparel and accessories for men and women from rare international lines like Japan's Y-3 and Hysteric Glamour as well as local designers Han Cholo and White Trash Charms. And very soon, co-owner Jerry Meng, along with partners Arnold Espiritu and Doug Wu, plans to maintain the store's active lifestyle ambience by installing a DJ booth. —Dan Frazier
