Filly co-owner Rachel Bratcher may live on a ranch—yes, a real ranch, with horses, pigs and even a miniature donkey—but the boutique's goods are anything but country.

One would think West Third Street is too overstuffed with boutiques catering to hip, young Angelenos to accommodate a new store hoping to stand out among the rest. But Filly succeeds with its rustic, charming dcor along with Bratcher and partner J'nai Cameron's easygoing demeanor. The shop's name can be taken literally—horse figurines and vintage, pastoral paintings can be found scattered throughout, and they do actually carry tees with horse images on them. It can also describe the young, spirited clientele who peruse the selection of exclusive, international lines like Banot from Israel, Ambali from France and Dutch line Spijkers en Spijkers. Chunky gold chains from Dirty Librarian, flirty separates from Sunshine & Shadow and cashmere sweaters from Loias also occupy space with snakeskin-embossed clutches and vintage jewelry on the main room's wooden tables and racks. In the back room: shoes, spacious dressing areas made from iron welded by Bratcher's neighbor, and a courtyard which will host future store events. —Enid Portuguez
