Men in suits? Hit or miss. Men in suits that actually fit because they're custom-tailored? Swoon.

Duncan Quinn is the expert in bespoke tailoring. Bespoke, of course, is that kind of service that allows any gentleman to specify the tailoring of his suit, measure for measure. Bespoke was conceived on Savile Row, a road in central London, but now LA men can skip the Heathrow hullabaloo with a quick jaunt to Sweet Lady Jane's unassuming neighbor. Step under the blue awning, walk past the photographs of everyman's idols—vintage Michael Caine and Sean Connery as 007—and march straight to the back.
1. Choose your fabrics by flipping through small binders of swatches. A navy striped suit made of wool cashmere with fuchsia lining and lime-green jetting, à la Jamie Foxx? Done.
2. Try on a stock jacket. The staff is excellent at eyeballing a customer's size. Now's the time to decide on length, slanted or straight pockets, open-vent sleeves, etc.
3. Here comes the measuring tape. Since this isn't Savile Row, asking for pants that sit lower on the hips is perfectly acceptable. Not entirely classic and by-the-book, this type of bespoke gives men the flexibility to be more modern, more rock n' roll. To our liking, our Duncan associate quipped, "No one wants to wear pleats."
Since these not-cheap suits can set men back some three grand or thirty grand at this point, splurging on a handmade silk tie and corresponding pocket square seems like a might-as-well decision. There's also the merino wool socks to consider. And the Jeffery West leather shoes. Oh, and the $185 umbrella. Even though it doesn't rain. —Lien Ta
