A tiny space with a big personality, this den of design-y housewares, gadgets and fashion accessories carries exclusive items that will have you in stitches.

In a city not hurting for great design stores, A+R stands out with a small but brilliantly selected collection of toys for grownups. A ceramic vase is shaped like three handguns, a glass "water bottle" vase replicates the look of its plastic relative. Tongue is clearly planted in cheek here, from the clock with a pencil attached to the minute hand (it draws circles on the wall), to the Buddha Box, a sort of anti iPod that plays 10 ambient songs (by a Chinese band) in a loop. There are purses made from wood, belt buckles made from geodes, and cuff bracelets made from recycled beer cans. Novelty items like an egg with soil and a baby plant inside make terrific gifts. Soon the shop will start selling its own line of commissioned items. We can't wait.
