Coryn Madley's fashion fiefdom is like a real-life fairy tale.

Once upon a time there was a girl named Coryn who lived in a log cabin in the woods. The precocious red-haired child spent afternoons playing dress-up and looking for faeries. One day, her family moved to the sunny land of Venice where she grew into a lovely woman, eventually attending the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design and Central St. Martins in London. There she learned how to machine knit sweaters with delicate appliqus and cloaks that looked like mushroom patches. The happy designer also scoured the land for vintage jewelry and seashells to make enchanting multi-stringed necklaces. When she returned to Venice, Coryn met a GenArt faerie godmother who offered her a spot in the "Fresh Faces in Fashion" runway show. Her clothing was soon worn by such noblewomen as Ashlee Simpson, Samaire Armstrong and Mischa Barton. Her new store on Abbot Kinney introduces treasures like vintage Prada boots, vintage Chanel purses, galaxy-splattered Luxury Jones T-shirts, purses from Tokyo, Show Pony owner Kime Buzelli's drawings, and Madley clothing and jewelry. On the wall hangs a watercolor of horses crossing a wild river she received as a gift; a bust of a blue horse sits in the glass case among handbags and jewelry, which can be modified in the workshop in back.
