reVamp SalonA blast to the fashion past ![]() Faithful vintage frocks can be found in downtown's Platt Building, a neogothic architectural gem built in the 1920s.One night while out swing dancing, Annamarie von Firley lamented the lack of snappy vintage outfits worn by her fellow dancers. Instead of simply pitying the ill-dressed fools, she launched reVamp, a line of reproduction vintage clothing for men and women representing the years between 1910 to 1950—from WWI to WWII, from The Great Gatsby to the king of rock 'n roll. Located above Broadway Bar on the twelfth floor of the Platt Building, the reVamp salon looks like a 1930s clothing studio with antique furniture including an Art Deco vanity, armoire and dresser. There are no clothing racks: In the '30s, women would visit clothing studios and models would come out wearing at least three different outfits at three different price points. More models would come out depending on what price point the woman liked, making the experience a personal fashion show. The experience has been updated by von Furley, whose collection is displayed on 47 different dress forms allowing shoppers to see the shape, fit and detail of her clothing.—Mai Dinh
