Hanging mannequins, a spacious back courtyard and sleek interior design are some of the standout features at DDCLAB, a New York City transplant looking to make it big in LA.

Its no mystery that some things that pass in New York can be seen as a little strange in Los Angeles (fur worn in April) and vice versa (white after Labor Day). But the DDCLAB brand stands the tests of both cities with an innovative mix of tech geek and utility chic. "The person that shops here, whether theyre from LA or New York, is looking for a different point of view," says DDCLAB co-designer Savania Davies-Keiller. She and design partner Robert Crivello integrate materials such as a stretch version of stainless-steel inox to make their jackets, pants and signature hoodie wind-repellent, anti-microbial and even anti-radiation. Styles arent limited to ultra high-concept designs and materials, however. Ladies can find soft off-the-shoulder cotton tees, knits and dresses, and premium denim is available for both sexes. DDCLAB, which stands for Design Development Concepts, quickly fit in with its avant garde neighbors Maxfield and Costume National after an opening party hosted by Bijou Phillips. LA and NY may not be so different after all. —Enid Portuguez
