Immediately upon opening, Lily Savitch became a welcome addition to the young and fashionable clothing boutiques steadily cropping up on La Brea.

We like to imagine that the door to Lily Savitch is really a portal into a Parisian boutique. An Art Nouveau-inspired lily, the store's logo, marks the gateway into a boudoir-like, pink wallpapered, split-level paradise. It's hip without being trendy, and the chandeliers, black plumes and flat screen silently playing old movies cultivate femininity but not fussiness. Dresses, skirts and flouncy blouses by Rozae Nichols, Cacharel, Chaiken and Sweetees are grouped together by designer; a basket of pretty panties, faux cameos by Plastic Heaven and a small selection of shoes by Marcello Toshi and Chie Mihara are scattered through the space. We were terribly tempted to buy a very cute pair of bronze leather Matt Bernson sandals, but thought better of dropping $100 on the job. Again. Lily (wo)mans the store herself, and kept to herself after inviting us to approach her if we needed anything. She should probably get those sandals ready for our next visit. —Lyndsey Saul
