Bathing Ape, the Japanese streetwear brand loved by the hip-hop community has finally hit the streets of Hollywood. And leave it to the Japanese to make tough cute. Case in point? Take a closer look at that baby blue camouflage—aww, they're little ape heads!

The bulky back of the security guard who (without turning around, mind you) opens up the glass doors of the Bape store for customers might at first glance be mistaken for an actual ape. This may or may not be intentional, but it won't matter once inside the boutique—its sleek and shiny surfaces will erase all thoughts other than “wow.” Even the preppiest of prepsters will be awed by the futuristic design. Want to try on some shoes? Pick a pair off the metal conveyor belt that rotates around a huge glass cylinder in the middle of the store. Then mosey up the stairs to sit inside said cylinder and strap on any number of loud sneakers—bright orange and lime green or dotted Kelly green and yellow ones reminiscent of Lichtenstein’s pop art. Hoodies, T-shirts and jeans shout Bape's one and only commandment "Ape Shall Never Kill Ape," as does the giant pair of jeans that stretch floor-to-ceiling in the glass display case where more hoodies, tees and jackets are neatly stowed away. Goods are for both guys and girls, as are the various accessories like trucker hats, beanies, key chains, messenger bags and the requisite collectible toy. When we were there, the price tags were still in yen. Considering Kayne is one of Bape's biggest fans, expect those tags to talk that ca-a-ash once they're converted to dollars. —Lyndsey Saul
