A new Chanel boutique on Robertson is both good and bad. Tacky starlets, who generally overlook Chanel (opting instead for trendy leggings and nameless scarves) now have a place to buy proper fashion.

Of course, this means poser Angelenos will now be wearing Chanel and turning it into a trend, which is annoying. However, we're willing to overlook this, for the gorgeousness of the boutique is enough to hide any marring of the brand's image. Essentially a black-and-white box of fresh light, the new Chanel boutique is two floors of rotating, season-specific ready-to-wear and accessories. Putting the bags front and center (they are delicious) is great business. The classic 2.55 in purple metallic, anyone?  How about a clutch shaped like a diamond on steroids? The staff—all energetic twenty-somethings—is strangely accommodating. Some of them even smiled, a juxtaposition from the boutique's mother ship a few miles away on Rodeo.
