As a former producer of fashion trade shows and Los Angeles Director of GenArt, proprietress Megan Griffith knows a thing or two about aesthetics. When opening her own furniture design showroom, she inevitably included the most unique and innovative West Coast talent.

From the outside, Denizen Design Gallery is distinguishable by the neon pink bars surrounding the entrance. Inside, it's the pieces like Modern Convenience's giant, neon acrylic swingset that quickly distinguish themselves. Twenty designers currently occupy respective sections of the spacious, stone-floored gallery: Ranging from DeWulf Concrete's stark cement pedestal sinks to Andrea Kitts' quirky lighting fixtures, the pieces are contemporary and cutting-edge yet functional. The mounted shelving units with aluminum sliding doors from Max Studios' LAX Series or the geometric bar stools by Johnston-Ready can be easily translated into commercial or residential rooms, while some pieces like intricate, goth-like wall art by MachineHistories are mainly for the avant garde. No matter the cred (or lack thereof) possessed by the shopper she greets, Griffith's friendly passion for design welcomes all who enter the space. —Enid Portuguez
