With stores on Robertson Boulevard, Malibu and a new branch in Beverly Hills, Lisa Kline has had a firm hold on LA's retail scene since she opened her first store more than 10 years ago at the age of 25. Now, between raising two children and managing her growing empire, Kline also finds time for date night, lunch at the Ivy and getting weekly massages. —Enid Portuguez

1.

Your stores are known for their casual yet trendy selection. Where do you go for more formalwear?

I go to Barneys, but usually I get stuff from my store, even if it's for black-tie events. I don't get fancy fancy.

2.

When shoppers are in LA for a day and ask you where they should go, where do you send them?

My husband's cousins from the South were here and I sent them to all the streets that are cool in LA. I also always think of Rodeo Drive as very LA. To not be from LA and see Beverly Hills would be really fun.

3.

What's your favorite lunch spot?

The Ivy. I love the food there. I love the ambience. I always order different stuff; I like the tostada salad a lot.

4.

When you and your husband have date night, where do you go?

Dan Tana's. We love the food. He always gets the big Dabney steak and I love the Caesar salad and veal piccata.

5.

Where do you like to take your kids?

There's this crazy place called Fo-Fo Friggily's in Oak Park, which they were in heaven in. My daughter is having her birthday party there. You can go, pay $10 and they can run around for two hours.

6.

Where do you like to pamper yourself?

I like to get massages once a week if I can. I like going to Burke Williams because I can just run in at the last minute. It's hard for me to make an appointment because I'm so busy. I know I can call the one on Sunset and they always have openings.

7.

You're an LA native. Is there a landmark from your past that you'd love to revisit?

I hear they're closing Magic Mountain, which is really upsetting. I was traumatized because I grew up going there. I want to go before it closes.

8.

If you wanted a new hairstyle, where would you go?

I go to Nathan and Cynthia at Sager French on Robertson. I always get the same cut; he cuts it long. I cut my hair short once and it was the worst experience of my life.

9.

It's Girls Night Out. Where do you suggest everyone go?

I know there are a million clubs that are cool but I don't really go to any. We went to one place after the Beverly Hills opening party: Winston's. It was really fun. I thought, "I'd go back there again."

10.

It's hard to pick your favorite child, but which of your stores is your favorite?

I love the women's store on Robertson because it's my first store and it's my baby. But my favorite store is the men's store. It's the perfect store—it's big enough, there's a bar, the vibe's cool. I think it came out the best.
