Back in the U.S.S.R., a whopping 40 Kira Plastinina stores opened in 2007. If that doesn't cause an eye-popping reaction, the fact that the owner and designer of the company, Kira Plastinina, is 15 going on 16 surely should. And now the underage fashion tycoon's empire has spread to U.S. soil, with a goal of opening 50 stores—five in L.A. alone.

Steps from Kitson, Intermix and The Ivy on Robertson, Kira Plastinina conjures visions of  Barbie and The Rockers (e.g. giant, plastic star-shaped pendants), Paris Hilton (fittingly, she starred in Plastinina's runway show) and Hef's top three girls (who have already been into the store). Zebra-print rugs, display tables with pretty princess legs and hot pink galore (not to mention the heart that dots the "i" in "Kira") are telltale signs of the teenage mind behind the line. Teeny shorts, spangled mini-dresses, tees and sweatshirts with '80s throwback graphics are better suited for the post-pubescent crowd, however there are pieces sophisticated enough to suit any demographic. We saw an adorable light gold military-style jacket that, depending on what you pair it with, could work on anyone between the ages of 20 and 40. To prove that point to the extreme, we heard that even an 85 year-old grandma was able to find something age-appropriate and non-Angelyne for herself. Despite its Bev Hills address, the price points are surprisingly low ranging from $6 for sunglasses to $50 jackets—the most expensive item we saw in the store was a long, draping silk spaghetti strap dress for $100. Another alternative to Forever 21 and H&M and a welcome break from the bank-breaking boutiques that line Robertson, we know how lucky we are to have Kira Plastinina. —Lyndsey Saul
