A place called Pixie Market may initially conjure visions of tiny blondes in green mini-dresses stockpiling magic potions. And though tiny blondes in green mini-dresses may shop here, these pixies are scooping up goods by emerging designers rather than enchanted Disney dust.

Hailing from NYC’s Lower East Side (where its first boutique still lives), Pixie Market carries a small selection of dresses, shirts, shoes and accessories that, like real-life pixies, are cute, with a swirl of quirk yet sophisticated when called for. Local labels Quail, Crispin and Basilio, Rojas, Jamison and The Battalion share the small, sparse space with a handful of hard-to-come-by lines from around the world like Berlin-based Kaviar Gauche, Ludmilla from Paris, Wonder Twins hailing from Sinagpore and Joline Jolink of the currently trendsetting Amsterdam. Owners Magda Pietrobelli and Gaelle Drevet also design two in-house-only labels—Sullivan & Sullivan, for which they make dresses and separates, and an adorable collection of ‘20s-inspired shoes called Maud. Prices are reasonable, with most items marked under $170—except for not one, but three ethereally deconstructed dresses by London-made Margo that we nearly swooned over and, unfortunately for us, also happened to be $300 a pop. But, sales are impressive—one rack was marked down to $40— and quite worthy of a wood nymph-sized wallet. —Lyndsey Saul
