We doubt Queen Elizabeth gets Brazilian waxes, but if she did, we feel certain she would recommend Brit expat Jodi Shays for the job.

With her disarming accent and infectious laugh, Shays manages to make a waxing visit almost as pleasant as a cup of tea. There's still pain involved, but the technique she's mastered since becoming an aesthetician in the mid 1990s ensures the minimum amount of torture. Somehow, while switching the topic from the Beckhams to TomKat, Shay does the job with a lightning-quick touch for a very reasonable price. First-time Brazilian-seekers would be smart to make an appointment with this pro, who was once Larry King's facialist. (His pores have gone to pieces since he left her!) Even though she's earned her crown taming bikini lines, Shays also shapes eyebrows and waxes lips and armpits in her garden studio, outside of which are a few backyard chairs holding anxious clients breathing deeply. —Mai Dinh
