Kari Sigerson of Omaha, Nebraska and British-born Miranda Morrison met at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Together they started the Sigerson Morrison shoe line, despite their mothers' preference for a prettier French phrase. Naming controversy aside, the shoe line found a huge cult following due to its surprisingly sleek designs and bold color choices. The whimsical footwear soon led to a handbag line, a New York flagship and then an LA outpost. Perfectly situated among West Third Street's personality-driven boutiques, Sigerson Morrison brings a breath of fresh Manhattan air with its skylights and white terrazzo. The shoes and bags continue to be favorites among stars like Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz and the name has stuck, even though it's not French.
