Long, narrow halls are capped with video art installations. It ain't LACMA. It's the new (and only) high-end spa in Hollywood and it's called Spa Luce.

The immediate sensation at Luce is "just relax."  Smooth, white interiors are paired with stone tile from Jerusalem. The lobby has a whisper chamber roof—from the right spot, you can hear whispering people clear as a bell from across the lobby. When it sounds like it's coming from behind you, don't be surprised. The eucalyptus-soaked steam room is particularly well-designed, with jets placed so as not to scald and refracted lighting that eases the mind's eye. Recessed lounge areas in the relaxation rooms are cozy, Middle Eastern and so well appointed it's like a photo shoot for Dwell. Cucumber and lemon waters, snacks and furry rugs make it easy to dawdle. Services include skin therapy (various facials, age controls and peels), body therapy ('rituals' that include up to five distinct steps, exfoliants, wraps and waxings), massage therapies (scalp, reflexology,  standard treatments, sports massage and a prenatal massage) and nail therapy (Moroccan hydrating hot oils, anti-aging and your requisite mani-pedis). The soak category is particularly well thought out, as Luce addresses purifying as well as calming steps. The prices run to the upper end of the scale, but that's to be expected. For a smattering of pampering, try a spa package (which are running at special prices for the time being). Tucked into an admittedly touristy area at the Hollywood & Highland Center complex, it is right on the Red Line...so save your gas and parking money.—RJ Middleton
