Stepping into Whatever Lola Wants is like entering the closet of Barbie's older, much chicer sister.

Glossy pink paint covers the floor and shimmies up the wall, while glass-orbed chandeliers oversee the scene. Only the cheeky mannequins posed in the store window, nestled along a quiet stretch of North La Brea, hint at the boudoir behind the glass. Owner (and former Playboy stylist) Lola Elmo typically mans the store herself, happily scampering after customers and giving them the grand tour. First stop? Her tightly edited selection of lingerie. Elmo veers toward über-elegant, stocking Parisian label Fifi Chachnil's $400 lace camisoles and slightly more moderately priced Myla underpinnings. Scattered throughout the boutique are custom-made Lucite cases, brimming with baubles (we love the $70 cherry crochet earrings), exquisite leather gloves and ergonomically designed sex toys—didn't we mention she used to work for Playboy? Elmo also stocks buttery soft Bulga bags—we spotted 'em marked down a cool fifteen percent—and vegan stilettos by L.A. label Mink perched in vintage armoires.  Soon Elmo plans to transform the store's beamed loft into an outpost for clothes she's collected from her stylist days of yore. Suffice to say, if Lola Elmo has it, we'll surely want it. —Heather Rabkin
