For three decades, Fred Segal has been a hotbed of celebrity-sanctioned casualwear trends. The store buyers take chances on emerging talent, and as a result, have launched cutting-edge looks from Jared Gold, Alicia Lawhon (both former clerks here) on up to international names like Martin Margiela. Cameron Diaz, Meg Ryan and Gwyneth Paltrow have been photographed carrying the store's distinctive white bag with the red and blue logo. The store is actually a collection of boutiques, through which rock music blares, making it feel like a daytime nightclub. Everything is eye-candy appealing, from the Earl Jeans (which also launched here) to the Marc Jacobs and Jill Stuart minidresses.
