When we think of stingrays we usually imagine one of two incarnations: a) the gentle, graceful gliding creatures that passively endure poking and prodding day in and day out in the Long Beach Aquarium's  hands-on kiddie pond, or, b) Chris Tucker's ride in at least one of the Rush Hour's (maybe the sequels too? We just couldn't bring ourselves to watch beyond the first one).

But, lo and behold, there are those out there with more fashionable plans for said sea creature. From Kaviar and Kind's silver and diamond pendant to jewerly designer Lauren Wolf's less humane utilization of actual stingray hides, stingrays seem to be skimming the surface of an all out trend.

And really, why get a pair of boring old leather ballet flats when it's possible to spend a thousand and a half on a pair made from spacey pebbly stingray skin? Is it revenge for the poor Croc Hunter's untimely demise? Is it even legal? Who knows, but PETA sure can't be happy about.
