In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Surfrider Foundation hosted a star-studded gala on Friday, October 9, 2009.
The evening, hosted by Mark Hoppus, honored Incubus, Pearl Jam and David Chokachi with Keepers of the Coast awards, which are bestowed upon celebrities who have made significant contributions in helping the Foundation fulfill its mission. A special performance by musical super group Camp Freddy closed out the evening.
Additionally, the event featured a live auction, "Art For The Oceans III," showcasing one-of-a-kind art by some of the world's most revered contemporary artists, including Raymond Pettibon, Shepard Fairey and Thomas Campbell. The artists (25 in all) created a commissioned piece depicting some of the world's most iconic (and in some cases threatened) surf breaks.
