Candles are usually a fail safe gift--who doesn't appreciate the warmth a small, controlled fire brings to a room? But, until we saw this charming presentation at Henry Road, we had no idea how unique and lovely a candle could be. Local Studio City-based gift shop Henry Road's 'Earl Grey Teacup Candles' are made from vintage tea cups (and matching saucers), poured by an LA-based candle maker. If you don't like what you see in the shop, be sure to ask--the owner has a stock pile of them, too many to keep on the floor. (Henry Road Earl Grey Candle, $35)
DIY TIP: If you have the time and energy, this is an easy do-it-yourself project. Craft stores carry microwaveable soy wax (with scents and dyes that can be mixed in, and of course, directions) and wicks. Hit up a thrift store for a vintage tea cup (don't worry if it's cracked, this can add to the charm) or use a pretty one you may already own and craft away.
