The living room, the library, the Asian-inspired garden with a koi pond and lucky bamboo: It all feels like an incredibly stylish home, but with room service. Accents like hardwood floors and French-style doors evoke warmth and comfort, while the gold and red room accessories keep the Asian theme going throughout the hotel. All 77 rooms are have warm earth tones and Craftsman-style furnishings, imported Mateo linens or Frette linens, and Aveda products in the bathrooms. But the most important design element is the sustainability. The hotel uses only nontoxic cleaning products, and the air conditioning is of the energy efficient variety. The hotel even has certificates of green-ness from both the city of Santa Monica and the California legislature.
