This totem of style is the coolest hotel for ladies who lunch, agents who schmooze, and hipsters who trust fund.

The Avalon Beverly Hills is something of a style icon, being the first hotel that Kelly Wearstler worked her interior design magic on. That’s not to say that there’s a “no touch” vibe among the immaculate furniture; it’s actually a pretty friendly, comfortable place to be. Since this was once a residential building, most rooms have a slightly different layout, but all the rooms are spacious and outfitted with seating areas, and rooms in the Canon building have kitchenettes. Each room also has slightly different furnishings (those with the, ahem, rope headboards are popular with guests in a honeymoon state of mind). The other action takes place in the restaurant, blue on blue, and the pool area, where large cabanas host beautiful people from the classy (Don Cheadle) to the less-classy (Paris Hilton), but even guests who haven’t graced various screens are treated like royalty. —Katherine Spiers
