The Parker Palm SpringsJonathan Adler's loopy, luxe hotel and grownup playground ![]() Jonathan Adler applies the "happy luxe" aesthetic of his home goods to a slightly demented fantasy hotel in Palm Springs. Those who associate Palm Springs with austere modernist houses (and interior decor so pointy it hurts) are pleasantly surprised by The Parker Palm Springs, a shaggy, earthy and slightly loopy place. Guests enter through gigantic orange doors, opened by bellhops in shocking pink blazers. Inside, a giant wooden key over the reception desk and a homemade-looking cloth wall hanging in the lobby give the place a '70s hippie feeling that diverges wildly from the clean, exacting modernist aesthetic elsewhere in Palm Springs. Everything's a little off-kilter and goofy, from the menu item names at norma's, the diner, to the throw pillows embroidered with the names of the seven deadly sins. It’s the perfect setting for Camp PYSC, a retreat for adults that’s short on clean living and long on campfires, cocktails and chocolate cake. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the pools, tennis courts, golf course, and especially the spa. Looking for something more specific? The hotel claims they can tailor a "bespoke camp" including any special activity a guest can dream up. We can't wait to see how far the guests (and staff) will go. —Katherine Spiers![]()
