Desert Star epitomizes the idealized version of Palm Springs: clean lines, indoor/outdoor living and, of course, a fabulous pool. Intimate and painstakingly refurbished, this boutique hotel offers the sort of experience expected by any Rat Pack movie connoisseur. The decor is very specifically mid-century. Guests get friendly with one another, going for rides on the hotel's bicycles, and evenings tend to evolve into something different with the help of a fellow by the name of Jack Daniels.
