We hear you: Not everyone who comes to LA is looking forward to time spent at the beach or on Robertson Boulevard. Some people actually come here to work, whether it’s Industry-related or Downtown big business-related. For their proximity to important institutions or their 24-hour room service still available after a lengthy meeting, these are the best properties to lay down after a long day’s work.—Katherine Spiers

1.

The Graciela Burbank

Ah Burbank, that much-maligned city of studios and strip malls. But plenty of people come here to take meetings with Industry folk, and The Graciela, a charming boutique hotel with a rooftop terrace, is the best place to house your own command central.

2.

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza

Century City is becoming the city of agencies, and this hotel is directly across the street from the biggest, CAA. The miles and miles of meeting rooms are perfect for pitches and strategizing, and the oldest lobby bar in the US is perfect for sealing the deal with a scotch.

3.

InterContinental Los Angeles Century City

Guests can stumble back from a day of meetings next door at 20th Century Fox and into the waiting arms of sushi chefs stationed in the lobby.

4.

The Culver Hotel

Business people working with nearby agencies or Sony may find inspiration in this historic landmark, where Clark Gable and Katharine Hepburn once lived and the cast of The Wizard of Oz threw raging parties.

5.

Farmer's Daughter

This hotel is pretty much ideally located for any LA visitor. It’s also across the street from CBS, making the lobby a swarm of people in suits heading to meetings and people in sweatshirts heading to “The Price is Right.”

6.

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

Just because you’re here for business doesn’t mean you can’t swank it up a little. The pool scene is still dotted with minor Hollywood royalty, but quiet enough for informal meetings. Just charge everything to the room, thanks.

7.

Figueroa Hotel

Busy Downtown bees find refuge in this Moroccan-themed tower. The pool area is at ground level, but you’d never know that relaxing glow is actually coming from Staples Center.

8.

The Standard Downtown LA

The hippest of all hotels in Downtown, this one’s a favorite with athletes and musicians. If you’ve been locked away in a high-rise all day without a break, not to worry. The diner’s open 24 hours.

9.

Millennium Biltmore Hotel

The classic Downtown hotel has landmark status and a 24-hour business center. There’s an unlikely combo that makes it work.

10.

Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza

Between the in-room WiFi and the Get Fit Kit (a mini-gym in your room), you could just shuttle between room and office. But why do that when MOCA, Disney Concert Hall, and Chinatown are all walking distance?
