Designed by the same architect who designed the Rose Bowl Stadium, this historic hotel can only live on in memories now.

Demolished in 2006 to make room for a LAUSD school, the Ambassador Hotel was a testament to LA's historic past. The hotel acted as residence for many a star, not to mention the fact it also hosted the Academy Awards. The Ambassador was also home to the legendary Cocoanut Grove nightclub, which hosted the likes of Bing Crosby, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland and many more. On a more depressing note, the hotel is also the spot where Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assasinated—the Senator was gunned down in the hotel kitchen by Sirhan Sirhan. The hotel closed officially in 1989, but was used as a film set until 2004 (The Graduate, Hoffa, Beaches). —Elisa Jacobs

You should have kept it as a historic landmark in a city which lacks history
