Perhaps you’d think that with all the skinny people wandering around LA, we aren’t big on eating. But you’d think wrong. As with everything else, Angelenos love to indulge in the culinary arts, from four-star restaurants to stalls at the Farmer’s Market. Visitors to LA who want to join in the fun should rest at the following foodie-friendly hotels. Katherine Spiers
1.
Le Parc SuitesLe Parc’s in-house restaurant is delicious, homey and woefully unknown. Don’t let all those perfect lamb chops go to waste, and be sure to visit the rooftop for an aperitif. Outside the hotel, check out low-key West Hollywood neighborhood favorites like Vito’s.
2.
Sofitel Los AngelesSimon, Sofitel’s restaurant, has a semi-celebrity chef and famously playful desserts. The hotel is also near La Cienega Boulevard’s Restaurant Row, home to celeb-choked classics (Koi), finery-filled masterpieces (Sona) and next-generation trendoids (Republic).
3.
Sunset Marquis Hotel and VillasLooking for a smaller hotel? Sunset Marquis is a boutique property also within reach of Restaurant Row. Pick up a little something from Boule for dessert.
4.
Hollywood Roosevelt HotelThis classic hotel near the historic Chinese Theatre is currently home to two well-regarded restaurants, Dakota (fine dining) and 25 Degrees (fancy burgers). Eat there one night and at Lucky Devils the next for the ultimate cheeseburger showdown.
5.
Millennium Biltmore HotelThe hotel’s restaurant, Sai Sai, is well regarded for its Asian fusion, and the hotel’s Downtown location puts it in close range of popular restaurants such as Blue Velvet that are popping up in unlikely locations.
6.
Farmer's DaughterIt’s a down-home hotel near down-home food: The area is home to kitschy favorites like Canters and the bountiful Farmer’s Market. But nearby there are also well-regarded Beverly Boulevard restaurants like Grace and Hatfield's.
7.
The Orlando HotelFirst, check out all the many crowded brunch spots on Third Street like Doughboys, Toast and Joan’s. Then, back to the hotel for a nap. Finally, dinner at La Terza, the hotel’s underrated and pitch-perfect Italian restaurant.
8.
Artists' InnRight in the heart of South Pasadena, this B&B is walking distance to half a dozen cute little bistros. It’s also just a hop, skip, and half a jump from San Gabriel’s famous Chinese restaurants.
9.
Hilton Checkers Los AngelesLooking for Zagat- and Gourmet-approved? Checkers can deliver on that. But it also puts guests near Chinatown and Little Tokyo, where locals go for late-night feasts of seafood or ramen, respectively.
10.
Hotel Casa del MarYou might have a to walk a little farther to find all of Santa Monica’s best eateries, but this hotel, with its esteemed new restaurant Catch and popular afternoon tea service, is a good place to start. Other beachtown musts are Josie, Father’s Office, Melisse and Bay Cities.
