But these visits are always enhanced with a mix of excitement and shame over our reality-TV knowledge. Area on “The Hills”

LC and her girl posse always let loose at Area, the exclusive A-list dance club that looks like a mid-century modern Mecca. But she turned catty (with good reason!) the night she saw her roommate Heidi’s boyfriend Spencer chatting up blonde bimbos.

Jonathan Salon Beverly Hills on “Blow Out”

Hair stylist and salon owner Jonathan Antin had a total freak-out on season two when he saw the packaging for his new hair-care line Jonathan Product. Not only did he physically threaten his merchandising guy, but he also threw the shampoo bottles at him (thankfully he missed!) and punched the wall.

Mel’s Drive In on “The Surreal Life”

Descanso Gardens on “America’s Next Top Model”

The aspiring models took over this Downtown park in season eight for the beauty challenge, where they had run to around the rose bushes while applying make-up. Brittany, who was ill and throwing up in the bushes, won the challenge.

The Laugh Factory on “Work Out”

Rebecca bragged about her penis prowess on the first season of “Work Out,” so her co-trainers were infuriated in season two when she pounced on their boss Jackie, the female star of the show. The two cuddled at the Laugh Factory and later made out at Sushi Dan across the street. Then Jackie’s best friend Jesse threw a fit because Jackie hadn’t told him about her romantic interest in Rebecca. Drama, drama, drama.

When Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends aren’t fake tanning, getting waxed or taking their dogs to the dentist, they’re at Hef’s palatial estate showing off their tans and waxes while playing with their dogs.

Cabana Club on “The Real Housewives of Orange County”

On her birthday, Jo ditched her rich and hot boyfriend Slade, who’d just given her expensive jewelry, for a girls night at Cabana Club in Hollywood where she drank free vodka, batted eyelashes with other boys and let promoter Ryan Silver flirtatiously threaten to throw her into the shallow pool.

Pacific Design Center on “Top Design”

Wait, Kelly Wearstler and Jonathan Adler are judges on this competition show? Guess we didn’t notice them over the show’s real star: The Pacific Design Center. The massive complex gets more face time than anyone on the show, often turning the one-hour episodes into commercials for the largest design center on the West Coast.

Pig 'n Whistle on “Breaking Bonaduce”

Slutty Danny Bonaduce, who’s always trying to get it on with other women, fah-reeeked out when he learned his wife Gretchen planned to have male strippers at her 40th birthday party. He responded by falling off the wagon at this hip pub, downing booze until he felt destructive enough to tell the film crew to turn off their cameras. Yikes.

Grew up in the Pasadena area, went on field trips to the Descanso Gardens all the time. The Descanso Gardens is in La Canada Flintridge not in downtown!
