I have an incredibly adorable eighteen month-old little girl. Because I love her, I always do what my wife wants when it comes to the care and health of my daughter. Two-percent organic milk with omega-3 added? You got it. Grass-fed beef? You got it. Gluten-free barley biscuits? Absolutely.
So I dutifully, and happily, head down to the upscale, shiny, pricey grocery store that's almost in my neighborhood, open up my wallet and max out the last of my credit cards for apple juice. But not just any apple juice. Organic, low-sugar apple juice, so debtor's prison is worth it.
Well, not any more. I have just found THE BEST, tastiest, healthiest affordable grocery store in all of Southern California. Henry's Farmers Market has been providing quality food to Californians for over sixty years. They have been so ahead of their time, we're only just catching up.
Take, for example, the simple act of shopping for the appropriate carton of milk for my child. My local chain grocer did not have it. My better local chain grocer had it, but only in the quart size. My child would knock that down in two days. A long drive to the upper-class gleaming cube produced more options in the half-gallon size, but I would have to skip lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to pay for it.
Henry's not only had four different brands, all in quart, half-gallon, and gallon sizes, but at a price that allowed me to purchase fresh raspberries, green beans, and a nice bottle of wine (for that romantic time after the baby has gone to bed).
Henry's is like your local farmers market, but with class. By supporting local growers, Henry's contributes to the environment as well as maintaining good neighbor relations. Finally, the food's just darn good.
Henry's Farmers Market will be attending (and sponsoring) the Malibu Calabasas Food and Wine Festival in June. It's perfect. The best local seller of produce, cheese, food, and wine will be there when you taste the best produce, cheese, food, and wine in California come June 19.
My family will be there, if for no other reason than to have my baby girl thank them for good milk.
